Alina Baikova

Model

| Greenwich Village

If there’s one thing you can’t say about Ukrainian model Alina Baikova, it’s that she’s, “just a pretty face.” Yes, she’s posed for the cover of Australian Vogue, led campaigns for Oscar de la Renta, and had a first season that most models only ever dream of: think walking for Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior and Lanvin. And sure, Baikova opening Dior’s haute couture show just months later was nothing if not an ultimate “model moment,” but she’s planting her feet in an entirely different world too: flowers— specifically, via her customizable florist app, Alina’s Flowers. Whereas typical florists only offer pre-arranged bouquets, Baikova’s interactive shop allows users to build their own arrangements, mixing and matching different types of buds to their personal liking. Before ordering, users can even attach selfies and greeting cards to their beautiful bundles. The digital boutique was originally bound to Europe only (Baikova sources most of her buds from Amsterdam), but the model is gearing up for its stateside debut now. What’s more: she’s even donated flowers to charitable events for major players like amfAR, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation and the Heart Fund… now that’s real beauty. Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: Coco & Cru (MAP IT, x). They have the most delicious and healthy “Green Bowl” (broccoli, spinach, kale pesto, ancient grains, avocado and a poached egg)— it’s perfect for any time of the day.

COFFEE OR TEA: A latte from Cha Cha Matcha (MAP IT, x). I love matcha lattes and this place is the best ever— the décor is so cute, everyone is friendly and you can have everything from matcha croissants to matcha ice cream.

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: Mezcal on the rocks. Lately, I’ve been visiting Spring Place (MAP IT, x) a lot; it’s a perfect, relaxed space that’s not too crowded for a drink with friends.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT: I don’t like staying out late as I’m a morning person and love to get up and workout, etc. so usually I’ll do a big group dinner with friends, then grab a drink. I love going to the cinema— nothing is better than a great film with my girlfriends and a big tub of popcorn. I’m not really a “club girl,” but if I ever go out, it’s to the best clubs in New York: Up & Down (MAP IT, x) and 1oak (MAP IT, x).

AFTER-WORK HAPPY HOUR: Cha Cha Matcha— yes, I basically live there.

MUSIC PICK: It depends on my mood, but I use Spotify and “Chill Piano” is my favorite playlist. I mostly listen to classical music because it’s calming.

BEST BRUNCH: Bar Pitti (MAP IT, x) is my go-to weekend brunch spot— it’s so authentic and the food is so delicious. We nearly always overstay our welcome because I could stay there all day if I had my way. Also,Cipriani Downtown (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x) is great; I love the food there.

HEALTHY STAPLE: Juice Generation (MAP IT, x) for a juice and/or a salad. It’s perfect for on-the-go and running around between castings, jobs and errands.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Nuts… too many calories, but I love them. Also, anything with chocolate! I love sweets and have more than one “sweet tooth.”

FIRST THING I MISS WHEN I’M AWAY: The people and the energy. Everyone here is so active— my friends and I very rarely hang out at home on the couch; we love to be out and about, either at an art gallery, working out or grabbing lunch. We never stop.

REGULAR AT: Cryotherapy at The Fuel Stop (MAP IT, x), Modo Yoga (MAP IT, x) and Barry’s Bootcamp (MAP IT, x).

DATE NIGHT STANDBY: I love taking boys to Barry’s Bootcamp. If they survive, we can go to Cha Cha Matcha for tea, but they rarely make it to dinner!

DELIVERY GO-TO: Never happens to me. I always eat out.

TO SEE AND BE SEEN: All of NYC’s galleries and museums.

TO GET INSPIRED: If you just put your phone down and look around while walking in this city, it’s very inspiring.

GO-TO GETAWAY: I try to go to the same place no more than twice because there are so many places to discover in the world; however, I do have a couple of places that I always go back to including St. Barths and Courchevel.

CLOSET CHECK: I would say that my personal style is casual chic. I don’t shop too much because I love how my Ukrainian designer friends dress me.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: Flowers are the best gift which is why I created my app, Alina’s Flowers— it’s coming to the US very soon!

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: The best and most beautiful manicurist, Kristina (call/text +13477572514).

FIT PICK: Modo Yoga and Barry’s Bootcamp.

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: Instead of a moment, I think I’d have to say it would be the people themselves— only here are people so open-minded. CP
