Danielle and Jodie Snyder
Designers, Dannijo| Tribeca
Kicking off NYFW, sisters Danielle and Jodie Snyder presented yet another swoon-worthy collection of jewels yesterday— this time road trip-inspired, so we couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate CITIPHILE‘s launch with the talented duo. Their sought-after jewelry brand, Dannijo, has earned a loyal following for its playful, yet curated aesthetic and with a color-drenched, gem-heavy Instagram account full of quippy hashtags like “#putabibonit” and “#armparty,” it’s clear why. Big, bold bib necklaces come in oxidized metal with ceramic beads, edgy ear cuffs are made delicate with pearls and Swarovski-encrusted metal cuffs are meant for mixing and matching. All handmade in New York, the girls are constantly inspired by their surroundings. Here, Danielle and Jodie sit down with CITIPHILE to reveal their little black book on NYC.
NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: Mulberry and Vine (MAP IT, x) for the avocado toast, grapefruit with fennel, rosemary and thyme, and the crust-less quiche. It’s the breakfast of champions. We also like Roc’s fettuccine bolognese (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x), Nobu Next Door’s crispy rice with spicy tuna (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x) and Tutto il Giorno (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x).
FAVORITE CUISINE: Sushi or Italian at Cipriani’s.
DATE NIGHT STANDBY: Emilio’s Ballato.
THING I MISS MOST WHEN I’M AWAY: The energy and the people.
CLOSET CHECK: D: We love vintage shopping at Manhattan Vintage Show. Jodie found a great Victorian lace top there and I love my vintage onesie. Jodie’s style is classic and romantic, while I’m more eclectic and bohemian.
BEST HOME DÉCOR: D: My interior style is like my personal style. I’d describe it as sort of masculine, rustic and world-traveler-chic. I love wood and metal furniture, all things rock n’ roll, African masks and textiles. I used to buy loads from my dear friend Billy Leroy at Billy’s Antiques before he closed. We love scavenging Brimfield and the Pier Antique shows for hidden gems. I recently bought a cool lucite coffee table. I also love Liza Sherman on Bedford Street (MAP IT, x). Jodie’s style is a mix of American and French influences. She loves antique Japanese indigo-dyed throws and Bert Stern photography. When we’re in the Hamptons, we love to visit Barbara Trujillo Antiques (MAP IT, x).
ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: D: I was on my way to interview famed sports photographer Neil Leifer for the Dannijo #boxerina collection and I was going over the questions over the phone with my sister while in the back of a taxi. The cab driver turned around and gushed about what a huge Neil Leifer fan he was. He was so excited he asked if I would record him asking a few questions he had for Neil. He gave me his email address so I could send him the recording of Neil’s responses. CP
