Amanda Ross

Stylist | Fashion Consultant

| Upper East Side

Between her technicolor Sanjay Kasliwal collier and her Givenchy blazer layered over a bohemian vest, one thing is clear: Amanda Ross oozes style (she’s coined it “Upper East Side Nepal” to be exact). It makes sense, then, that as a fashion consultant and stylist, her work runs the gamut from editorial and advertising (she’s the former Market Director of Harper’s Bazaar and Consulting Fashion Director at Anne Klein) to television, film and Hollywood— Ross was the assistant costume designer for Meryl Streep’s film, It’s Complicated (we love you, Meryl), not to mention regularly styles red carpet fixtures like Mariska Hargitay, Debra Messing, Vera Farmiga and Anjelica Huston. Whether we’re inspired by her imaginative spreads in glossies like Harper’s and L’Officiel or her knack for dressing our favorite leading ladies, Ross has a way of making us fall in love with fashion all over again. Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

COFFEE OR TEA: Coffee at Via Quadronno. It tastes just like it does in Italy.

FIRST THING I MISS WHEN I’M AWAY: The energy and the rhythm of the city.

REGULAR AT: Le Bilboquet, Amaranth and Le Charlot.

CLOSET CHECK: My personal style is what I like to call, “Upper East Side Nepal.” I love Saint Laurent and Dover Street Market (MAP IT, x).

ACCESSORIES PICK: I mix real jewelry with artisanal finds from the markets wherever I travel. Lately, I’ve been wearing three gold rings and a new necklace from Sanjay Kasliwal (MAP IT, x).

DREAM STYLING GIG: Working for writer and director, Nancy Meyers.

BEST HOME DÉCOR: Creel & Gow (MAP IT, x), though I find things all over the world when I travel to places like Kenya, Istanbul and London too.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: Colorful wool felt coasters from Ben Pentreath or honey and caramel sauces from Ladurée (MAP IT, x).

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: For the best haircut and blow-dry, Jan Spagnuolo (x) at Rossano Ferretti Salon (MAP IT, x). For the best facials, Michele Sabino (x) at Dr. Gerald Imber (MAP IT, x).

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: Being serendipitously sat next to my boyfriend at Le Bilboquet. It was true love at first sight. CP
