Pari Ehsan

Founder, Paridust

If life is like a canvas, then Pari Ehsan is one of its great artists. The former architect and interior designer founded her blog, Paridust, two years ago as a means to express her love of art and fashion, and yet, somewhere between Christian Dior Couture and George Condo, she’s managed to create mini works of art herself. Ehsan’s concept is simple: shoot beautiful clothing against striking contemporary art, but the results are enlightening. Take, for example, an Erdem sundress amidst Urs Fischer and Richard Prince or a Chanel Haute Couture gown glittering against a Jacob Hashimoto installation, each medium seemingly feeding off its counterpart to bring the perennial conversation between art and fashion to light. It’s no wonder that Ehsan was nominated for “Fashion Instagrammer of the Year” by the CFDA just last spring— she’s managed to make worlds collide into something larger-than-life. Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: I’m obsessed with Dimes (MAP IT, x). The harissa salmon is my go-to dish— it comes with curried cauliflower and it’s healthy and delicious.

COFFEE OR TEA: Ginger honey tea at my neighborhood bakery, Manna One (MAP IT, x).

ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Blue Ribbon Sushi (MAP IT, x) for their toro tartare with a quail egg; it’s so fresh and I love the combination of flavors.

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: An extra spicy margarita— not sweet, no salt. Jack’s Wife Freda (MAP IT, BOOK ITx) makes a good one.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT: The Bowery Hotel (MAP IT, x).

BEST BRUNCH: Café Mogador (MAP IT, x)— it’s very chill and I love the “Gold Rush” cocktail.

HEALTHY STAPLE: Dimes for “The Big Salad.”

GUILTY PLEASURE: Not so guilty, but I love the raw desserts at Quintessence (MAP IT, x). My favorite is the banana coconut cream pie à la mode with nut crumble.

FIRST THING I MISS WHEN I’M AWAY: The streets and walking everywhere.

REGULAR AT: Jack’s Wife Freda. I go at least twice-a-week for an extra spicy margarita and a Greek salad with chicken and avocado— it’s the perfect meal. Jack’s has the best vibes.

DELIVERY GO-TO: Tiny’s & The Bar Upstairs (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). I order the kale salad with chicken and avocado.

TO RELAX AND UNWIND: The Russian & Turkish Baths in the East Village (MAP IT, x). Head straight to the room with the stone furnace!

CLOSET CHECK: My style is minimal and experimental. I love Curve (MAP IT, x) and Moda Operandi (MO even does same day delivery in the city!).

BEST HOME DÉCOR: I’d describe my interior style as romantic modernism. I like hard lines with a mix of warm and cold materials. Matter (MAP IT, x) has great pieces; I also love Blu Dot (MAP IT, x)— I use their Strut dining table as a desk.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: Love Adorned (MAP IT, x) has great little treasures (like kaleidoscopes).

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: Kerrie Jordan (x) for eyebrow shaping and lash tints.

FIT PICK: I follow yoga instructor Francesca Bove (x) around town. She teaches at Equinox (MAP IT, x) and Laughing Lotus (MAP IT, x).

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: When someone you’ve been dying to meet or have been thinking about appears before you… I feel like that happens all the time here! CP
