Deborah Lloyd

Creative Director, Kate Spade

| Boerum Hill

Bright prints, saccharine bows and a polished, yet playful esprit have always defined the Kate Spade girl we know and love, but the woman responsible for making her a more grown-up, modern and worldly version of herself as of late? That’d be none other than Deborah Lloyd, Kate Spade New York’s current Pres and Chief Creative Officer. After successful stints at both Burberry and Banana Republic— she was VP of Women’s Design, then Executive VP of Design & Product Development— the British designer joined KS NY where she oversees all creative aspects for the Kate Spade and Jack Spade brands (think PR, merchandising and product design). All in all, her KS reign is proof she’s onto something—Lloyd successfully led the iconic New York brand through a contemporary renaissance: one for a new era of “It” girls that are at once quick, curious, playful and strong. A bird cage handbag here, a daisy-printed party skirt there, life may be hard, but Lloyd proves it can also be so sweet. Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.
