THE BEST BARS IN THE BOROUGHS ARE SERVING UP A TASTE OF SUMMER LIKE YOU’VE NEVER BEFORE SEEN.

OK, we’re certainly not discrediting the merits of a solid margarita or a chilled glass of sauv blanc when it’s hotter than hot outside– it’s nearly all we ever crave– but the bevy of New York bartenders creatively serving up summer-in-a-glass right now has us re-evaluating our whole creature-of-habit thing–at least, as it pertains to imbibing. We’re talking a dressed up Negroni infused with pistachio cream (currently being served at ROKC, the new uptown watering hole from two Angel’s Share vets), a heavenly medley of mezcal, muddled peaches and ginger kombucha known as the “Smoked Peach” and a serious showing of heirloom tomato water and summer herbs (dill, mint, basil) that has our mouth-watering just thinking about them. For the adventurous sipper, there’s a umami-inducing riff on the Brazilian Caipirinha (hint: it involves fish sauce) and a crowd-pleasing basil-n’-gin number for the less so.
