On weekends, we take our boat out along with our friends and tie them up next to each other,” Gabby Karan de Felice tells us when we ask of her summer routine. “Over the years, more of our friends have gotten boats so our floatilla is sometime in the dozens!” But, for Karan de Felice, such all-embracing, friends-like-family happenings aren’t season-bound— they’re the essence of her life’s work (not to mention, herself too). In case the whereabouts of maj stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Keith Richards isn’t your idea of “news” (come on, we know you’re curious), we’re hinting at Tutto il Giorno, her multi-location, Italian restaurant she co-owns with her husband, Gianpaolo (and of which both aforementioned VIPs are fans). Inspired by her mother-in-law, Nona Carolina, Tutto’s kitchen is a tribute to uncomplicated, albeit satisfying Italian home-cooking— think linguine with clams, charcuterie and whole fish— while its dreamy interiors in Southampton and Tribeca are Karan de Felice’s way of reincarnating “home:” artworks by her father, artist Stephan Weiss, accent the walls; exotic pieces like Haitian chandeliers tell the story of her personal travels; and, cozy throw pillows, pottery and planters are borrowed directly from her mom, Donna (both from the celebrated designer’s label, Urban Zen and from her private home). On the heels of Tutto Southampton’s stunning renovation, we asked Karan de Felice to chat all things “summer” on the East End. Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on the Hamptons.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: Tutto il Giorno Southampton (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x)! Chef Alex Apparu’s whole grilled fish and my husband Gianpaolo’s mother’s penne with eggplant are my two favorite [dishes].

COFFEE OR TEA: Coffee from my Nespresso machine at home; I like to spend the morning at home with my family.

ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Of course, it’s Tutto because it is really an extension of my home. Our pane carasau is the best thing to start a meal with— it’s a Sardinian flatbread drizzled with Tutto il Giorno extra virgin olive oil, rosemary and sea salt.

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: A Tutto spritz in the garden at Tutto il Giorno made by Chris, the bartender; he always has the best smile! Gianopaolo and I like to recreate this drink when we take the boat out for an afternoon aperitivo.

WHERE TO BRING OUT-OF-TOWNERS: For me, anywhere on the water that we can get to by boat— I love Marie Eiffel on Shelter Island (MAP IT, x) or Duryea’s Lobster Deck in Montauk (MAP IT, x). For shopping, I go to Urban Zen in Sag Harbor (MAP IT, x)— I love shopping there and the store feels like my closet (probably because I already own so many Urban Zen pieces)!

WHERE TO STAY: I love Andre Balazs’ Sunset Beach (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x)— it is right on the water so we always go there for lunch and recommend it to visitors looking to stay out East. They have great drinks and the best mussels.

BEST PEOPLE WATCHING: The best event for people watching is always Super Saturday— it has the best food and shopping, and it’s all to support OCRFA so everyone in the Hamptons comes out for it. This year marks the event’s 20th anniversary so it won’t disappoint.

HEALTHY STAPLE: Round Swamp (MAP IT, x) is the best-hidden market. I like to pick up fresh ingredients to make a picnic lunch.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Harbor Market (MAP IT, x) has the best brick oven pizza—I like to stop there with my daughter after her horseback riding lessons.

EAST END’S BEST-KEPT SECRET: Boating! On weekends, we take our boat out along with our friends and tie them up next to each other— over the years, more of our friends have gotten boats so our floatilla is sometime in the dozens!

DATE NIGHT STANDBY: Dave’s Grill in Montauk used to be our favorite, [but it is now closed]– Gianpaolo and I loved their cioppino (it tastes just like Italy) and we have known Dave and Julie forever. We also love the new spot, Dave’s Gone Fishing (MAP IT, x).

REGULAR AT: I love to walk around Amagansett Square and go to Tiina (MAP IT, x); and, of course, Joey Wölffer’s Styleliner (MAP IT, x) is the best— I love her vintage pieces.

TO SEE AND BE SEEN: Anywhere in Montauk: The Crow’s Nest (MAP IT, x) at dinnertime and the Ditch Plains beach during the day.

TO RELAX AND UNWIND: Yoga Shanti in Sag Harbor (MAP IT, x).

QUOTIDIAN KEEPER: The Dog Store in Wainscott (MAP IT, x) is where I have my dog groomed; I’ve been going there for years.

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: Warren Tricomi (MAP IT, x) for a blowout!

FIT PICK: I want to be outside as much as I possibly can when I’m not in the city so exercise in the Hamptons for me is swimming off of the boat and long walks on the beach whenever I’m not at the restaurant.

CLOSET CHECK: My style is easy and comfortable so my wardrobe is a lot of Urban Zen— they’re the perfect pieces to take me from day to night.

ULTIMATE EAST END MOMENT: I love the Hamptons because there is a lot of philanthropy within the community which is very important to me. As mentioned above, this year marks the 20th anniversary when my mom and Liz Tilberis teamed up to start Super Saturday; my children love to go and enjoy the rides, eat the great food and shop all the while giving back— only in the Hamptons.
