Hailey Clauson

Model

| West Village

For most girls, open model calls are the stuff of bad teenage nightmares, but not so for Hailey Clauson. At just 13 years old, the Los Angeles-born bombshell was signed on the spot after walking into Ford Models for an impromptu casting. She was walking the runways by 15 (for the likes of Zac Posen and Calvin Klein her first season), appearing in glossies like Nylon and Harper’s Bazaar, and, at 16, was the face of Gucci and Jill Stuart— how’s that for sweet sixteen? Meet Clauson IRL and it isn’t hard to see why: she’s Bardot, Gisele, Erin Heatherton and Karlie all rolled into one (read sexy, sporty, all-American and high-fashion). And yet she’s real— posting Instagram pictures of “cheat day” pizzas and Magnolia Bakery pudding indulgences in between her personal Vogue editorials. Clauson’s only 20, but she could have fooled us… Here, the model sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: Cafe Cluny (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x) is a great spot to get brunch; I love their short rib hash!

COFFEE OR TEA: Coffee at Saturdays (MAP IT, x) because the coffee always wakes me up and there’s good vibes whenever you go in.

ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Lovely Day (MAP IT, x)! It’s the best Thai food and it’s not expensive. The Pad Thai and long beans are insane.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT: I love going dancing with my girls. We have fun anywhere we go.

AFTER-WORK HANG OUT: Jebon Sushi on St. Marks (MAP IT, x)!

MUSIC PICK: I love rock n’ roll, rap, reggae and the blues. A great venue is Webster Hall (*Location now closed).

BEST BRUNCH: My apartment! There’s nothing like a big, home-made brunch where you can stay in your pajamas! Anyone can come over; I love cooking for my friends.

BEST PEOPLE WATCHING: Union Square, Washington Square Park and Trader Joe’s (MAP IT), ha!

HEALTHY STAPLE: Whole Foods (MAP IT) for quinoa sushi.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Italian food. I recently went to Bar Pitti (MAP IT, x) and had the most incredible pasta.

FIRST THING I MISS WHEN I’M AWAY: Not being able to walk everywhere and not being constantly stimulated.

REGULAR AT: I’m always at Overthrow Boxing Gym (MAP IT, BOOK ITx)— it’s fun to just hang out there even if you’re not training. I’m also always at Saturdays; I can bring my dog inside which is a huge plus.

DATE NIGHT STANDBY: My boyfriend and I love going bowling at Bowlmor Lanes (MAP IT, x) or going somewhere to play pool; it’s better than just sitting at dinner.

DELIVERY GO-TO: Joe’s Pizza (MAP IT, x).

TO SEE AND BE SEEN: The streets of SoHo.

TO ESCAPE AND UNWIND: I love going to Bliss Spa (MAP IT, x) for a massage or hanging in a cozy coffee shop.

CLOSET CHECK: My personal style is random, boyish and a little sexy. I like Rag and Bone (MAP IT), Zara (MAP IT) and Alexander Wang (MAP IT). If you want to find more unique things, vintage and thrift shopping is the way to go. When I travel to smaller towns, I always check out the Salvation Army; I’ve found some amazing stuff there.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: Whole Foods.

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: My hairstylist who cuts and colors my hair: Annastasia Konidaris (x) at Pas De Deux (MAP IT, x).

FIT PICK: I work out 5 times a week. I train with Jullien Herrera (x) at Overthrow.

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: Man, I feel like I have a NY moment every day. I’ve been here for almost 6 years— at this point, nothing fazes me. A guy in a crazy costume can walk up to me and have a full conversation and I won’t think anything of it. CP
