Kate Foley

| Williamsburg

Platinum locks, the enviable ability to pull-off a red lip and a closet full of print-tastic fashion pieces (many of which her fiancé, Suno’s Max Osterweis designed, BTW), there doesn’t seem to be much that Kate Foley doesn’t have. And we haven’t even gotten to her job yet— a stylist and creative consultant, Foley got her start in editorial assisting super-chic stylist Charlotte Stockdale, then worked on the launch of Vogue Turkey before moving to New York. After taking a brief career detour to work in the buying department at Opening Ceremony (who could pass on an opportunity like that?!), she’s styling once more for glossies like Teen Vogue, plus consulting for brands like Estée Lauder and Topshop. As the Contributing Fashion Director of Vestiaire Collective, a luxury re-sale website, Foley has her dainty hands in fashion’s past, present and future too— now, that’s “S”-tyle. Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: 1 or 8 in Williamsburg (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). I love their sashimi and nigiri. Over the summer, they had the most insanely good cucumber gazpacho with avocado mousse which was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. It’s super high-quality sushi, but in the most relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

COFFEE OR TEA: TEA! From Bakeri in Williamsburg (MAP IT, x) because they serve tea in mismatching cups and saucers which feels very British.

ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: I love Il Buco on Bond Street (MAP ITBOOK IT, x). The food is great, but it’s also just so cozy and even when they are super busy (every night!), it feels home-y. I love to go for lunch and eat a kale salad and whatever the current raw tuna dish is (and maybe some pasta).

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: A margarita at home… I hate to blow my own horn, but mine are incredibly good. I love going to The Ship on Lafayette Street (MAP IT, x)— a friend of mine, Steve, co-owns it with two friends of his; the cocktails are amazing and the staff is so friendly. It’s a great place to go for a drink after work as it feels really private.

MUSIC PICK: [The playlists at] The Four Horsemen (MAP ITBOOK IT, x).

BEST BRUNCH: I like Café Mogador (MAP IT, x) as I don’t really love traditional brunch food and they have many more options!

HEALTHY STAPLE: Rose Bakery at Dover Street Market (MAP IT, x) for a vegetable bowl.

GUILTY PLEASURE: I have lots of guilty pleasures; not just one, but I love ordering the hanger steak and celery root mash and the shishito peppers with citrus, cilantro and masses of sea salt at Five Leaves in Williamsburg (MAP IT, x).

NY’S BEST-KEPT SECRET: Ha! Not saying… sorry, too selfish to share.

FIRST THING I MISS WHEN I’M AWAY: How dirty the city is (joke). It would have to be home!

REGULAR AT: All of the places above! Also, the Marni store in SoHo (MAP IT)… eek!

DATE NIGHT STANDBY: We prefer to try places we’ve never been before for date night.

DELIVERY GO-TO: Right now, it’s Vanessa’s Dumpling House (MAP IT, ORDER ITx) just because it’s so simple and quick.

CLOSET CHECK: My style is pretty eclectic; I shop all over. My favorite stores are the Marni store (as mentioned), Dover Street Market and I also shop online on Vestiaire Collective (x) non-stop as I love finding special pieces from old collections and unusual, one-of-a kind pieces so I’m not wearing the same thing as everyone else!

ACCESSORIES PICK: Again, Vestiaire Collective! I always carry Mark Cross bags and am constantly getting new colors in the classic styles. One thing I am always searching for are great earrings. I buy a lot from Marni and the jewelry section of Dover Street Market is great.

BEST HOME DÉCOR: My interior style is the same as my clothing style: very eclectic. I love mixing modern pieces with antiques— beautiful, clean lines with interesting pieces found on my travels. It’s more beautiful to have a mix. I love mid-century furniture, but would never want my house full of only that.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: I love to buy personalized gifts from Anya Hindmarch (MAP IT, x) for friends.

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: I also only trust Janelle (x) at O&M NYC (MAP IT, x) with my hair!

FIT PICK: I have a wonderful trainer who I see a few times a week and the rest of the time, I run. Running in the city is my favorite; it gives you a chance to go to places you wouldn’t otherwise [go to] and explore. I would highly recommend it!

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: Ha! There are too many to recall. I think the most “NY” moments happen on the subway! CP
