Marielou and Chloe Bartoli

Stylists

| Bel Air

What do you get when a pair of French-bred, Bel Air-raised twins take root in the land of cinema, celebrities and Céline? Well, for starters, a coterie of extremely well-dressed leading ladies. Blessed with that sort of enviable, innate style (we like to think of it as Euro chic-meets-Cali cool), sister act Marielou and Chloe Bartoli are behind the coveted wardrobes of fashion darlings like Miranda Kerr, Nicole Richie, Poppy Delevingne and Alessandra Ambrosio. And at just 26, the stylists have already fine-tuned their signature: a potpourri of easy-to-wear, hard-to-find vintage dotted with contemporary couture— it’s the kind of thing Jane Birkin would pass by the Met Ball in, then hop over to roam the beaches of Cannes. Indeed, we weren’t all too surprised when we stepped inside the girls’ pad to discover their home championed a similar then-and-now aesthetic (think black-and-white art, gilded smoking tables and moody jewel tones); nor when we learned they threw a post-awards show, room service-pajama after-party with a certain aforementioned starlet (ahem, Richie) in lieu of attending the official one— now, these are the girls we remember when we think, “#SquadGoals.” Here, the Bartoli babes sit down with CITIPHILE to reveal their little black book on LA.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: We love The Fountain Room at The Beverly Hills Hotel (MAP IT, x). They have the best pancakes in town!

COFFEE OR TEA: We go to Kings Road Cafe (MAP IT, x). Marie-Lou drinks coffee (an almond milk vanilla latte) and Chloe tea (earl grey). We don’t live close by, but we drive across town every morning to get it!

ALL TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Giorgio Baldi’s in Santa Monica (MAP IT, x). We would highly recommend ordering the sweet corn agnolotti and the pumpkin sage ravioli. We’ve been coming here for as long as we can remember! We love going on Sunday nights for a relaxing dinner.

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: Dirty martinis at Tower Bar at The Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). The maître d’, Dimitri is always very welcoming and very kind.

AFTER-WORK HAPPY HOUR: For after-work drinks or happy hour, we love to sit outside on the terrace at The Bel Air Hotel (MAP IT, x); it has a very cozy vibe.

MUSIC PICK: We love the old-school stuff like Otis Redding, Bob Seger, Joe Cocker, Michael Jackson… Our all-time favorite venue to see concerts in LA is The Hollywood Bowl (MAP IT, x); it’s an outdoor venue so seeing shows on a summer night is the best!

BEST BRUNCH: Our favorite weekend brunch spot is Gjelina in Venice Beach (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x)– there isn’t one thing on the menu that isn’t absolutely delicious; they have the best oysters and mimosas! Plus, there is always a great ambience on their outside terrace.

HEALTHY STAPLE:  Life Food Organic (they have two locations: one in Hollywood (x) and another in Santa Monica (x)). We order superfood smoothies and they also have a variety of delicious raw vegan salads.

GUILTY PLEASURE: When we are having a sweet tooth and feel like being naughty, we go to The Polo Lounge at The Beverly Hills Hotel (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x) and order a chocolate soufflé.

LA’S BEST KEPT SECRET: A secret hike in Malibu that we go on almost every weekend; it’s a magical spot.

FIRST THING WE MISS WHEN WE’RE AWAY: The LA sunshine and morning hikes.

REGULAR AT: We regularly go to the La Prairie Spa at The Bel Air Hotel (MAP IT, x)– great massages and mani-pedis, and we love La Prairie products (the cellular mineral face exfoliator is one of our favorites).

DATE NIGHT STANDBY: The perfect date night stop is Nobu in Malibu (MAP IT, x) on the water.

DELIVERY GO-TO: When we want to order in, we always order from Osteria Mozza (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x) for Italian and Night + Market (MAP IT, ORDER ITx) for Thai.

TO SEE AND BE SEEN: Chateau Marmont (MAP IT, x).

TO ESCAPE AND UNWIND: Ojai for the day or for the weekend. The mineral hot springs there are amazing– great to unwind and relax.

CLOSET CHECK: Our personal style in one word: vintage. One of our favorite things to do is go vintage shopping. We are always on the look out for great, one-of-a-kind pieces. We have a few of our favorite spots for amazing vintage here in LA: Resurrection (MAP IT, x), What Goes Around Comes Around (MAP IT, x) and Decades (MAP IT, x).

ACCESSORIES PICK: Same vintage stores as above, as well as Curve on Robertson Boulevard (MAP IT, x) and Elyse Walker in Pacific Palisades (MAP IT, x)– they always have great styles.

BEST HOME DÉCOR: For interiors, we love mid-century modern, but still very cozy. We love antique shopping for mid-century pieces (lamps, mirrors, vases) and art of mid-century design.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: Dyptique (MAP IT, x) candles are always easy gifts; you can’t go wrong. Our favorite scents are Ambre, Vanille and Eucalyptus.

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: For our beauty products, we love Violet Grey on Melrose Place (MAP IT, x). They have all of our favorite European products! There’s this Embryolisse moisturizer that we love; we have sensitive skin and this product contains no perfume, plus it’s very hydrating.

ULTIMATE LA MOMENT: There was this one time that was pretty memorable… we were dressing Nicole Richie for the MTV Awards as she was hosting the show. It was very intense as there were many outfit changes and no time, but throughout the madness we all managed to laugh and have a great time with the whole team! After the show, instead of going to the after-party, Nicole and I (Chloe) decided to put on giant pajamas and order room service. It was the perfect way to end the night. CP
