Standout Shops

FROM ANTIQUE FURNITURE TO CAREFULLY CURATED VINTAGE, THESE LA STOPS HAVE OUR FULL ATTENTION…

It seems like the LA landscape is changing more rapidly with each passing day, and with it, our list of special neighborhood gems is near never-ending. Here are a handful of special shops we’re currently digging, including one closely related to this week’s contrib, Goop Fashion Director Laurie Trott.

Goop Lab

Inside Goop Lab

Of course, we had the pleasure of kicking it with Goop’s Fashion Director, Laurie Trott, this week where much of our “hang” consisted of Trott bearing with us as we waxed poetic about her company’s first-ever, now-open brick-and-mortar (sorry again, Trotty!). But, who can blame us? The space– staged like a Brentwood bungalow– was dreamt up by Gwyneth Paltrow’s fav designers, Roman and Williams, and it’s complete with a living room, beauty vanity, kitchen, greenhouse and a porch. (The kitchen even has a fully functioning La Canche range so there’s that…) Besides being a mind-blowingly gorgeous boutique we’d kill to live in, Goop Lab stocks stunning housewares and GP-approved fashion, plus it hosts in-store beauty treatments, cooking demonstrations and occasional gardening events. Night Palm

From husband-and-wife duo, William Melton, a digital marketing exec, and Tiffany Howell, a music video director/fashion stylist, Silver Lake newcomer Night Palm takes a refreshingly original and artistic approach to home décor. The tiny boutique stocks modern and vintage furnishings alongside rotating art from local artists (FYI, there’s photography from the crème de la crème of music and celebrity photogs too). In a world where every indie boutique is beginning to look like one another, we found Night Palm’s unique mix of treasures to be a breath of fresh air. (FIND IT)

Making Moves

Vintage trove Platt Boutique— whose famous fans include J. Law and Emma Roberts– has just opened its doors since relocating from Robertson to Beverly Boulevard. The new digs include 2,000 sq. ft. of space filled with vintage designer fashion (expect tons of Gucci, YSL and Chanel), not to mention estate jewelry from the 1700s up to the ’70s. We’re especially keen on a handful of Georgian era rose-cut diamond rings the shop currently has on offer. In other “move” news, CP-favorite Mohawk General Store now has official roots on the West side with the opening of a Santa Monica outpost, Mohawk West. Like its Silver Lake sister, the shop stocks elevated menswear, womenswear, small gifts and home décor; unlike its sister, it boats a sweeping outside cactus garden where designers like Issey Miyake and Dries Van Noten are slated to host pop-up events. (FIND PLATT; FIND MOHAWK WEST) CP
