Stylist | Designer

| Chelsea

There’s only one woman who can pull off polka dots on top of stripes on top of sequins. Lori Goldstein’s inimitable work is characterized by her “more is more” approach to fashion or as she’d say, “everything goes with anything.” She’s colored countless pages of W, ELLE — she’s Fashion Editor-at-Large of the magazine— and Vogue Italia, working side-by-side with industry legends like Meisel, Testino and Leibovitz to create some of the most iconic images of the past few decades, and she’s styled the runways for top designers including Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera and Versace. Always working, Goldstein is a newly published author and designer too. Just last year, she penned her first book “Lori Goldstein: Style Is Instinct,” and while she has a second in the works, she designs her own label, LOGO by Lori Goldstein for QVC, for women and children. Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: I tend to order in frequently– that’s one of the perks about living in NYC: everything can be delivered! However, I do love ABC Kitchen (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x) and ABC Cocina (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x)! Both are right down the street from me. The sweet pea guacamole at ABC Cocina is so delish!

COFFEE OR TEA: Coffee for sure! I’m obsessed with my Nespresso machine.

WHERE TO BRING OUT-OF-TOWNERS: I love a great Broadway show.

BEST PEOPLE WATCHING: On the streets because everyone is amazing in their own right.

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: A Cosmo. I know, I am so old-school. I’m not really a big drinker at all, but if the occasion calls…

HEALTHY STAPLE: I make the rounds to all the juice shops in the neighborhood. Juices, smoothies and raw foods keep me going throughout the day. I like the fresh juices and the raw foods from Organic Avenue (*Location now closed) and Juice Press (MAP IT, x) in particular.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Mexican food!!! I love a good guacamole and rice and beans with tortilla chips. Fonda in Chelsea (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x) is a favorite.

TO ESCAPE: I have a gorgeous terrace and that is my escape. It is my little slice of heaven in the city.

TO SEE AND BE SEEN: My friends and I are all kind of hermits, but we do love a nice dinner, museum or a Broadway show.

THING I MISS MOST WHEN I’M AWAY: New York City. It’s home!

CLOSET CHECK: I’m a bit of a creature of habit in that when I find something I like, I buy five of them. I’m loyal that way. Right now, I love my Proenza t-shirts and my LOGO Layers tank tops and leggings. For accessories, I love them all and nothing in between. Big and bold or small and real. I love single, beautiful, real jewels and stacking them and wearing them all together. I’m currently in love with messages in jewels… in diamonds of course!

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: Luckily, one of my my best friends, Orlando Pita (x) cuts my hair. For nails, I love Jin Soon (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x)!

FIT PICK: I’ve done yoga for years, but I’ve recently started to incorporate other workouts like boxing and TRX with my trainer who comes to my home. I actually met him through a friend of mine and he is always pushing me… but in a good way. My friend kept telling me to call him and I kept saying “I will.” Finally, he had him call me!

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: The six-degrees-of-separation is really true in New York. I’m always discovering new connections with people! CP
