Julie Henderson

| Flatiron

Blue-eyed, blonde and Texas-born, model Julie Henderson is the All-American girl of All-American girls. She moved to New York City when she was just sixteen, and since, she’s graced the pages of fashion glossies like ELLE, Glamour and Teen VOGUE, not to mention, she’s flaunted her beach-perfect bod in Sports Illustrateds major swimsuit issue now seven years in a row (two things we’ll never have: legs for days and a perfectly even bronze). Henderson did let us in on a few of her beauty secrets though— behind her signature “I-just-woke-up-like-this” fresh face is cosmetics brand au Naturale, an organic, vegan and cruelty-free line with whom she recently unveiled a noteworthy collaboration… Let’s just say if anything can make us remotely resemble Henderson (check out her Instagram, the girl does not take a bad photo), we’ll take it… or two. Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: ABC Kitchen (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). I love to get either the mushroom, parmesan, oregano and farm egg pizza or the crispy shrimp with romaine, market vegetables and a carrot-sesame vinaigrette. The food is amazing without making you feel too full.

COFFEE OR TEA: Coffee at Toby’s Estate (MAP IT, x) because it is super close to my apartment and their coffee is delicious.

ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Bar Pitti (MAP IT, x). Order anything on the menu— you can’t go wrong.

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: Slightly dirty Ketel One martini, very well shaken at The Standard Grill (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). Also, Orient Express in the West Village (MAP IT, x) has nice drinks and great bartenders.

MUSIC PICK: Rose Bar at The Gramercy Park Hotel (MAP IT, x). They always have great recorded and live music.

BEST BRUNCH: Bubby’s (MAP IT, x)— their pancakes are to die for!

BEST PEOPLE WATCHING: Dos Caminos in Meatpacking (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x) in the summertime.

HEALTHY STAPLE: Equinox (MAP IT, x) for a green juice or chicken and fresh, steamed veggies.

NY’S BEST-KEPT SECRET: Stone Street in the Financial District.

FIRST THING I MISS WHEN I’M AWAY: The 24-hour delivery services!

REGULAR AT: ABC Cocina (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). They have amazing margaritas and guacamole! You can definitely find me there once a week for a good girls’ gossip session.

DATE NIGHT STANDBY: PDT (MAP IT, x). It’s a small, hidden bar (that most New Yorkers don’t even know exists) with amazing cocktails.

CLOSET CHECK: My personal style is feminine and classic, and at the same time, comfortable. My favorite places to go shopping are Bergdorf Goodman (MAP IT, x) and Dover Street Market (MAP IT, x).

DREAM NYC SHOOT LOCATION: Either on a boat with the skyline in the background or on the Brooklyn Bridge at night.

BEST HOME DÉCOR: My interior style would be modern, but cozy. I’m a sucker for Restoration Hardware (MAP IT) or Design Within Reach (MAP IT, x), but to find more unique pieces, I like to pick up things as I travel the world.

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: Ben Thigpen— my hairstylist for all my red carpet looks.

FIT PICK: I constantly have to change up my workouts to keep myself interested and excited about exercising. I alternate between going to Equinox for yoga or a spin class, running in Central Park and going to barre classes at Xtend Barre in Brooklyn (MAP IT, x).

I don’t have one, but two “NY” moments. The first would be going to the Met Gala and the second is having dinner at the United Nations… Now THAT’S New York for you! CP
