Alicia Rountree

| Nolita

Part top model, part restauranteur, there is little that Alicia Rountree can’t do. As a model, the island-born beauty (she calls Mauritius “home”) has graced the pages of Vogue, Glamour and Harper’s Bazaar, and starred in major campaigns for the likes of Ralph Lauren, Victoria’s Secret and Bare Escentuals (the latter was shot by none other than the ineffable Terry Richardson). As a restauranteur, she co-owns Tartinery, the tony, French-influenced Nolita eatery beloved for its farm-fresh, open-face tartines (the cucumber and yogurt rendition is a favorite of ours and Rountree’s). Though the original location is perfect for girls’ brunches and low-key date nights, the restaurant’s newest outpost has done wonders for FiDi’s lunch game (ahem 1 WTC editors, it’s tucked inside Brookfield Place). Here, Rountree sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: Tartinery (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x)! I’m the co-owner and the atmosphere is cool and cozy at the same time. My favorite dishes are the yogurt and cucumber tartine and the quinoa salad— they are so fresh!

COFFEE OR TEA: Nobody will believe this, but I have never had a cup of coffee! I love green tea and have it at home.

ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Estiatorio Milos on 55th Street (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). The Milos special is to die for (fried zucchini, eggplant, tzatziki and cheese) — it’s meant for sharing, but I could easily eat the whole thing myself!

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: I’m not a big fan of cocktails, but I do love champagne! The rooftop at SoHo House (MAP IT, x) in the summer is my favorite for lounging around and having drinks in the open air.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT: Recently, I have been having more girls night in, but I like going to drinks at the Bowery Hotel (MAP IT, x)— they’re never a let-down.

MUSIC PICK: I dance around to Beyoncé in my apartment, but Acme (MAP IT, BOOK ITx) always has a good playlist too.

BEST BRUNCH: ABC Kitchen (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). I always order too much because it’s so yummy (yet I’ll still finish all my plates…).

BEST PEOPLE WATCHING: The lobby at The Mercer Hotel (MAP IT).

HEALTHY STAPLE: Sweetgreen (MAP IT, x) for a custom salad.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Our chocolate fondant cake at Tartinery is irresistible.

NY’S BEST-KEPT SECRET: I’m a bit of a massage freak. Yan May on Hester Street (MAP IT, x) does the best back and foot massages— $30 for an hour!

DATE NIGHT STANDBY: Mr. Chow in Tribeca (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). I know the maître d’ well and always get a lovely table.

DELIVERY GO-TO: Café Gitane (MAP IT, x). Best avocado toast in the city.

TO RELAX AND UNWIND: Aire Ancient Baths (MAP IT, x).

CLOSET CHECK: My style is relaxed chic. I like mixing and matching high street and designer clothes. I like Otte (MAP IT, x), Reformation (MAP IT, x) is great for dresses and Resurrection (MAP IT, x) for vintage clothing and accessories— I found a great pair of Chanel sunglasses there and I wear them all the time.

ACCESSORIES PICK: I love shoes, bags and jewelry! I am obsessed with my Chanel espadrilles (I wore a pair every single day last summer and have just bought a new pair in leather), I adore Saint Laurent bags and my favorite jewelry is vintage gold Chanel pieces and anything from my sister’s brand, Oceano Pearls.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: Barneys (MAP IT, x) is always a winner.

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: Daniel Sanchez (x) at SDSH (MAP ITx) does the most natural highlights.

FIT PICK: I’m an SLT addict (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x), but I also train with the best trainer in town, Robert Brace— he has a studio in SoHo (MAP IT, x). We just came out with a ballet-inspired workout app we created together called Brace’s Supermodel Ballet Body. It’s great when you’re traveling or at home!

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: Everyday is a “NY” story. I bump into people I know from all around the world in the streets of New York— this would not happen anywhere else. CP
