Jenné Lombardo

Founder, The Terminal Presents | Co-Founder, MADE Fashion Week

| SoHo

Unabashedly sexy and sassy, Jenné Lombardo is as cool as it gets. She started out as the Special Events Director at Interview, moved on to become the head of Fashion, Talent and Special Events for M.A.C. Cosmetics, then co-founded MADE Fashion Week, founded The Terminal Presents and added Fashion Director of Playboy to her ever-stacked résumé. At M.A.C., Lombardo dreamt up the M.A.C. + Milk program, securing the cosmetics label as the backstage brand of choice for downtown cool designers like Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra, not to mention it led her to her next venture: MADE, where Lombardo supports the best emerging names in the business (think Cushnie et Ochs, Suno and Proenza Schouler). Still, her love for established labels runs just as deep— with The Terminal Presents, she helps high-profile brands like the W Hotels and Playboy stay relevant (Lombardo even had a hand in an album launch for the Queen B herself, Beyoncé, too.) Here, she sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: Sant Ambroeus on Lafayette Street (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x). I love everybody that works there. I always go with the specials, but their branzino is very good too.

COFFEE OR TEA: I drink decaf lattes with almond milk (I like to get them at Sant Ambroeus) or any of the herbal teas at The Smile (MAP IT, x).

ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: I love so many places… Sant Ambroeus, Il Buco (MAP IT, BOOK IT, x), The Smile, Takahachi (MAP IT, x) for sushi, Lovely Day (MAP IT, x) and Dimes (MAP IT, x) are a few.

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: A dirty martini at Bemelmans at The Carlyle (MAP IT, x). I like to listen to the piano player and order some bar snacks.

MUSIC PICK: I like every single genre of music: hip hop, songs that are pretty and make you feel, electronica, classics and oldies. Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn (MAP IT, x) puts on some good shows.

HEALTHY STAPLE: The Smile to Go (MAP IT, x) and Hu Kitchen (MAP IT, x). I’ll get whatever looks fresh. I tend to eat lots of vegetables and fish, and stay away from gluten.

GUILTY PLEASURE: The Russian Bathhouse on E. 10th Street (MAP IT, x) or the one on Fulton Street (MAP IT, x). It’s more of an indulgence of time. I like to go and sweat it out.

AFTER-WORK HAPPY HOUR: I like Dudley’s (MAP IT, x) for a drink at the bar or Pravda (*Location now closed)— it’s old school with dimly-lit booths and it’s unpretentious, but you can get caviar and cocktails.

NY’S BEST-KEPT SECRET: I don’t share my secrets! But, I do love the Indian spice markets in the East Village/L.E.S. or on Lexington Avenue. I like to explore different neighborhoods where there is a high concentration of a certain ethnicity. I’ll look for foods I’m unfamiliar with and experiment at home in the kitchen.

FIRST THING I MISS WHEN I’M AWAY: The accessibility and the energy of the city. In New York, you can get whatever you want, whenever you want it and we get very used to that. Also, the energy you feel here when you get off the plane is really thrilling; people here are so motivated and inspired to create.

REGULAR AT: Sant Ambroeus, Barry’s Bootcamp (MAP IT, x) and dance with Nicole Winhoffer (BOOK ITx)!

KID-FRIENDLY STAPLE: We like to go to the L.E.S. Skate Park (MAP IT, x) and skateboard.

CLOSET CHECK: My style is a little bit sporadic— it’s risky and unconventional. I range from wildly romantic to something more free-style depending on the day and my mood. I love Ritual Vintage on Broome Street (MAP IT, x). I’ve gotten a lot of vintage lingerie (that I’ll wear under dresses), vintage fur coats and Levi’s from there.

BEST HOME DÉCOR: My home style is very similar to my personal style: a mix of high and low pieces with some really great vintage accents from the 60’s and 70’s and classic, user-friendly items. I shop mostly on eBay or flea markets, but my friends own DwellStudio (*Location now closed) and I’ve gotten some great things from there.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: I usually go to Dean & DeLuca (MAP IT, x) or a specialty food store. I like to gift things like olive oils and salts, things you wouldn’t ordinarily pick up yourself, but are very special.

FOR THE KIDS: Sweet William in LA (MAP IT, x). I love it there.

BEAUTY BLACK BOOK: Sean Gallagher (x) at Serge Normant on 23rd Street (MAP IT, x). He colors and styles my hair.

FIT PICK: I work out 6 days a week. I’ll do dance with Nicole Winhoffer 3-4 times and do Barry’s Bootcamp on the other days (I like Noah Neiman’s classes). I tend to work out in the mornings because if I don’t, it likely doesn’t happen. I’ll work in an SLT (MAP IT, x) every once in a while too.

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: I guess I’d have to say one of the first parties we did for fashion week. There was a gas station next door and we emptied out all of the gas tanks and threw a massive party for Alexander Wang. We had a whole mini-mart complete with snacks, beer, cigarettes and car fresheners (anything you’d ordinarily find at a gas pump). Party guests could walk around and take what they wanted. It was definitely one of the best moments of my life. CP
