Meredith Melling and Valerie Boster

Co-Founders, La Marque

| Noho | Upper East Side

What do you get when you pair two former Vogue editors with a Wintour-worthy style acumen and a business sense that’d make Mama Kardashian proud? La Marque, a tony, new-age fashion consultancy with top-tier clients like Theory and Karlie Kloss. The brainchild of Meredith Melling and Valerie Boster, the company helps create modern brand identities that are both visible and consistent— that means assisting brands in everything from model casting and styling to editorial and social media content, advertising and collaborations. To say it falls within the duo’s wheelhouse is an understatement— as Vogue’s former Senior Market Editor, Melling knows what shoppers want out of a brand today, while Boster is well-versed on all-things production (as the fashion mag’s Bookings Editor, she oversaw every aspect of its shoots including casting models and hair and make-up). As if we ever had a doubt, the two are certainly making their marque. Here, they sit down with CITIPHILE to reveal their little black book on NYC.

ULTIMATE NY MOMENT: MM: My fiancé and I were walking down Lafayette Street one night and he turned to me and said, “With you, even the ordinary is extraordinary.
