Mara Hoffman

| Williamsburg

Mara Hoffman’s foray into fashion was as storybook as they come: walking down the streets in a printed ensemble of her design, she caught the discriminating eye of Patricia Field (yes, the woman behind Carrie Bradshaw’s enviable closet) who proceeded to place an order for her own boutique, House of Field, right then and there. As it turns out, this would be merely the first in a series of “pinch me” moments for the designer— the latest surely being the presentation of her Resort ’16 collection at the Versace mansion in Miami. Keen on geometric motifs and technicolor prints, Hoffman says her travels often inform her ready-to-wear and swimwear lines, although her own vibrant spirit inevitably plays an equal role. Living in Williamsburg with her husband, collage artist Javier Piñon and son (and inspiring drummer), Joaquin, she radiates the good vibrations for which her label has become so famous. Here, Hoffman sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on NYC.
